Week 1 | Part 1: Developing an Academic and Professional Network
I have identified and secured the participation of the following academic (at least two) and professional (at least two) individuals and/or teams to form the basis of my network. This network will help me to clarify my vision for success and will help guide me now and in the future.

Why I selected this individual and/or team and how they will support my success in the MSN program and as a practicing nurse:
Notes: I chose Delphine as one of my professional support persons because she serves as a mentor to me professionally. During the time we were working together, she introduced me to Walden University and I found out that Walden‘s vision, mission, and goals aligned with my professional and academic goals. When I decided to attend Walden University and told her my intention of forwarding my career to MSN, she was excited and offered to provide support to me in any way possible on this journey. She is an alumni of Walden University. She pasted the NP test and is currently working as a psychiatrist in Delaware. I am super grateful for her support. She agreed to provide me with resources that would help me succeed in the MSN program, considering she herself went through the program as well.

Notes: George and I currently work at the same job. He is very supportive of me and willing to help me with whatever request I ask of him professionally. When I informed him about forwarding my education to the Psychiatric mental Health practitioner program, he welcomed my decision and stated, “You can do it because I believed in you.” He offered to cover some shifts for me whenever I need time off to study for tests or tend to homework. He also promised to support me throughout this journey.

Notes: Rev. Dr Poe was my former instructor at Cuttington University, where I received my Bachelor of Science Degree for Nursing in Liberia, West Africa. During my time at the University, Rev. Dr Poe was my biggest supporter throughout my undergraduate program. He was one of the main influences to me making this decision. He told me, “I will be so glad to see you become a provider.” He also assured me of support in this journey by connecting me to others and providing resources upon request.

Notes: Miss Morris was the nursing director at Cuttington University at the time I was there doing my undergraduate program. She provided resources for me and encouraged me to continue my education to the highest level in nursing. Even though it took me years to make that decision but now I am finally back in school. She informed me that she is willing to support me through this journey and will make sure that I success through connections and resources.

I have analyzed the relationship between academic integrity and writing, as well as the relationship between professional practices and scholarly ethics. I have also identified strategies I intend to pursue to maintain integrity and ethics of my academic work while a student of the MSN program, as well as my professional work as a nurse throughout my career. Part 1: Writing Sample: The Connection Between Academic and Professional Integrity
In the space below write a 2- 3-paragraph analysis that includes the following:
- Explanation for the relationship between academic integrity and writing
- Explanation for the relationship between professional practices and scholarly ethics
- Cite at least 2 resources that support your arguments, being sure to use proper APA formatting.

PART 2: Strategies for Maintaining Integrity of Work
Expand on your thoughts from Part 1 by:

The article offers insight on how social media use among adolescent population has an influence on eating disorders that manifest within the population. Based on secondary research approach that explored other research publications, the authors determined that social media has an influenced on healthful and unhealthful eating behaviors. In addition, social media can present resources for preventing eating disorders and possible relapse. Besides that, it determined that social media has an influence on through four strategies: visual appeal, content dissemination, socialized digital connections, and adolescent marketer influencers. The journal is useful for developing network driven approaches that engage adolescents in promoting positive dietary behaviors and healthy eating habits among adolescents. | |||

Step 2: Summary of Analysis

My approach for identifying and analyzing peer-reviewed research was to do a database search. This leverages the algorithms in the databases to match key word combinations and other search parameters. The search was conducted in Medline and PubMed databases. In addition, the search was supported by an analysis plan that restricted the search to journal articles, published by scholars, well-structured research, and use of professional language.
There were two strategies that were effective for finding peer-reviewed research. First, searching for articles in professional databases (such as PubMed and Medline). These databases have a library of peer-reviewed publications that can be speedily searched using intelligent algorithms. Second, identifying a list of peer reviewed publications on the subject of interest. Examples of peer-reviewed nursing journals include Clinical Nursing Research, Journal of Clinical Research, and The American Journal of Nursing.
PubMed is an appropriate source of peer reviewed research on medical and nursing subjects. This is a database that is freely accessible from any place with an internet connection. It is a reliable and authoritative database that contains past and current publications thus making it a rich resource. Furthermore, it is well managed with good algorithms that facilitate search efforts, such as restricting publications to specific dates.
Week 6 | Part 4: Finalizing the Plan
I have considered various options for my nursing specialty, including a close look at my selected (or currently preferred) specialty and second-preferred specialty. I have also developed a justification of my selected (or preferred) specialty. Lastly, I have examined one professional organization related to my selected or preferred specialty and considered how I can become a member of this organization.
The results of my efforts are below.
