Assessment Description
The purpose of this assignment is to understand the link between formative and summative assessment strategies and instructor satisfaction survey data and to develop a concept map illustrating the relationship of assessment strategies throughout the practicum lesson plan you developed in Topic 9.
The effective nurse educator employs a variety of formative and summative techniques during curriculum implementation to monitor student learning. A well-developed lesson plan employs both formative and summative assessments. A nurse educator should plan to use data from these assessments to guide instruction. Information from instructor satisfaction surveys also provides valuable information to guide teaching. Lesson Evaluation Concept Map Essay Discussion Paper
Concept maps describe the relationships between concepts and allow for improved understanding through critical thinking and analysis.

Lesson Evaluation Concept Map
Part 1
Assessments present informative tools for conducting systematic analysis and making inferences concerning students’ development and learning. In fact, assessment plays in important role in learning processes and motivation by identifying what works for the students. In the present case, a practicum lesson plan was presented to addressing the topic of drug administration during nursing care within an inpatient hospital care setting. For that matter, an evaluation plan that incorporated formative and summative assessment strategies was applied.
The formative assessment strategy applied requires that students submit a one-page reflection about the learning experience and use Gibb’s reflective model for the reflection. This reflection is completed midway through the education program. In addition, the students will be subjected to a practical assessment that evaluates their performance in practical aspects of the education program. The results of this formative assessment are intended to identify the most effective instruction methods for the students as well as contribute to the summative evaluation (Bastable, 2021).
The summative assessment applied involves subjecting the students to a written test that is completed at the end of the course. The test includes a brief discussion and multiple-choice questions that evaluate application of the concepts delivered in the course. The results of the summative assessment are used to determine how well the students have familiarized with the course concepts. Also, the assessment will determine the effectiveness of the instruction methods and if changes are required for subsequent classes (Bastable, 2021).
In addition to the formative and summative assessments, an instructor satisfaction survey will also be completed. This will be completed at the end of the education program in which students will answer survey questions to evaluate the performance of the instructor/teacher. The results of the assessment will be useful for improving the lesson plan and the teacher’s performance in future education programs (Thomas et al., 2016).
