For this discussion choose a qualitative research article (not a systematic review)
The article selected is “Nurses’ Perception of Their Work Environment, Health, and Well-Being: A Qualitative Perspective”, a journal article that presents the results of a qualitative research study (Geiger-Brown et al., 2004).
Discuss the qualitative design methodology used by the researcher(s).
The research applied a survey methodology in which questionnaires with open-ended questions were distributed to the participants to collect their opinions concerning their work environment, health and wellbeing. All the participants were presented with the same set of open-ended questions. In addition, the research applied a phenomenological approach that described and interpreted the lived experiences of the participants based on their comments (Harvey & Land, 2017).
Discuss the sampling method and the data collection methods.
The study applied a non-probability sampling method that involve non-random selection based on availability and convenience, thus allowing for easy data collection. The specific sampling method applied is a voluntary response sampling method that includes the individuals who meet the inclusion criteria and happen to be more accessible to the research. Instead of the researcher choosing the participants and directly contacting them, the participants chose to volunteer for the research by responding to the survey. The survey was presented as a questionnaire with open-ended questions that asked the participants to present comments about their work environment, health and wellbeing (Grove, Gray & Burns, 2015).

Discuss the results of the study.
The results of the study revealed that nurses are commonly faced with excessive demands, injustice and unfairness. In addition, nurses reported that they deal with the excessive demands, injustice and unfairness through personal solutions (Geiger-Brown et al., 2004).
Based on the study’s results, what were the recommendations given by the researcher(s).
Based on the results, the researchers recommended that the occupational needs of nurses should be met through implemented workplace interventions. They specifically recommended that occupational health nurses be engaged to create a workplace that supports nurses, avoids excessive demands, injustice and unfairness, and equips nurses to apply effective personal solutions (Geiger-Brown et al., 2004).
How could the results be used to support a change in practice?
The results can be applied support three changes in practice. Firstly, engaging occupational health nurses to create a workplace that supports the health of nurses. Secondly, equipping nurses to apply personalized solutions to workplace problems. Thirdly, engaging nurses in efforts to present a healthy workplace by ensuring that they have an opportunity to contribute towards workplace policies and standards.
