Journal Article

Shah, N., Grover, S., & Rao, G. P. (2017). Clinical Practice Guidelines for Management of Bipolar Disorder. Indian journal of psychiatry, 59(Suppl 1), S51–S66. https://doi.org/10.4103/0019-5545.196974

The journal article explores the available clinical practice guidelines available for the treatment and manageming bipolar disorder. Bipolar disorder is a psychiatric disorder that is typified by depressive episodes, mania/hypomania and mixed episodes, accompanied by periods of inter-episodic recovery. Bipolar disorder normally begins during puberty or early adulthood and has significant adverse effects on the life of the patient and their caregivers as well (Shah et al., 2017). Database

PubMed database was used to search and locate the article. PubMed database supports the search and retrieval of peer-reviewed journal articles to improve health. The database provides a search interface for MEDLINE and other National Library of Medicine resources; this makes PubMed database to be the leading source for biomedical and health literature and among the most commonly accessible resources globally (Dunn et al., 2017). The PubMed database has over 30 million citations and abstracts of peer-reviewed journal articles.

Difficulties Experienced while Searching for the Article

One of the difficulties experienced was information overload. This means when searching for articles too much information would pop out, including irrelevant and unrelated information. There were too many journal articles and scholarly information that was available in the database. Therefore, selecting a specific article was a challenge.  Another difficulty encountered is that it was challenging during website navigation. It was extremely problematic to determine the link leading to the article content on the homepage that was so crowded.

The Usefulness of the Database

The database would be useful to my colleagues. This is because the database contains journal articles that cover all aspects of biomedical and medical research. Therefore, the database can provide my colleagues with access to various electronic information resources important in improving the quality of care and facilitating evidence-based practice. Information resources accessed using the PubMed database are useful in making changes to patient care and avoiding adverse events (Dunn et al., 2017).  Scholarship and Nursing Practice Essay Paper

Moreover, my colleagues would be able to access the majority of journal articles in the database for free. Even if the majority of the journal articles accessed through PubMed are free, they are all peer-reviewed which ensures their quality, validity, and reliability (Williamson & Minter, 2019).

Recommending the Database

I would recommend this database. This is because the database contains peer-reviewed journal articles and thus the articles are highly reliable (Williamson & Minter, 2019). PubMed is a research database that covers all biomedical and medical research and thus one can locate any information related to health research using the database. The database contains various tools and features that improve the search process and they include features to filter and sort the search results. Moreover, there is a feature to save, mail, export and share the results and journal articles, and the searches as well. This eases the whole search process.
