Identify the translation science framework or model that is most relevant to your practice problem from among the following three models and consider your reasoning:

Translation Models and Frameworks
Knowledge translation encompasses all the step between creating new knowledge and applying the knowledge to yield beneficial outcomes. It is a multidimensional and complex concept that demands an understanding of its measurements, methods, mechanisms and other influential factors at the contextual and individual levels. The interaction of all these factors is captured translation science frameworks/models that brings together the different factors for the purpose of raising awareness, connecting perspectives and thoughts, and stimulating and questions that delineate the mechanisms and components necessary for knowledge translation (Loversidge & Zurmehly, 2019).

The practice area is an outpatient mental health clinic with the issue of concern being the lack of close involvement of the clients’ family members in the treatment plan. The facility offers outpatient mental health care services with the clients being very independent as they have no critical problems. The clients attend scheduled therapy sessions at which time they are evaluated. They spend very little time at the facility with most of the time spent outside the facility. The concern is that the family presents an untapped potential and this potential is leveraged for an evidence-based practice quality improvement (EBP QI) project (Truglio-Londrigan & Lewenson, 2018).
Knowledge-to-action framework has been identified as the most relevant model for the practice problem. As a conceptual framework, it presents a way of applying enhancing the translation efforts. In addition, it encompasses the process of synthesizing, disseminating and exchanging knowledge as well as ensuring that the knowledge is ethically sound with a focus on providing more effective health care. The framework comprises two components. Firstly, knowledge creation in which an enquiry is performed, knowledge synthesized and health products/services developed so that knowledge is tailored. The second component is an action cycle with steps that may be carried out simultaneously or sequentially. The steps in the action cycle include identifying the problem, adapting the created knowledge to the local context, assessing barriers to knowledge use, implementing tailored interventions, monitoring knowledge use, evaluating outcomes, and sustaining knowledge use (White, Dudley-Brown & Terhaar, 2019).
While the knowledge-to-action framework is just one of the many translation science frameworks, it is considered the most relevant for the practice problem because it is iterative such that the developed solution can be repeatedly built up, refined and improved. In fact, applying the framework allows for the solution to be applied as a process in which creation, testing and revision occur in repeated cycles until the end result is satisfactory. This implies that the framework not only informs the application of the solution, but it also present action cycle components that feed back to inform knowledge creation (Harrison & Graham, 2021).
In addition, the framework allows for a theory-information translation science that provides a deliberate intervention map. This increases the translation rigor and validity, thereby facilitating seamless integration of evidence into the evolving/growing solution. Besides that, a translation strategy informed by the framework is more likely to be effective in changing attitudes and behaviors. If a framework is not used, then the translation is more likely to result in uninformed intervention that is too ambitious and too broad (Harrison & Graham, 2021). Overall, the knowledge-to-action framework is expected to allow for the translation to be done right the first time.
